These are just a few of the interesting questions Keynote Speaker Kevin O'Connell, Chief Weather Anchor for WGRZ-TV in Buffalo since 1993, will be asked when he delivers his much anticipated presentation at the 51st Annual International Snow Symposium's Corporate Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, April 25 at 11:30am.
Kevin's professional accomplishments include Emmy Awards, Golden Mics, LA Press Club Plaques, an AP Press Broadcaster Award, and the American Meteorological Society's Broadcast Seal of Approval for his work on-air and in the community.
He was awarded the Top Weathercaster Award by the AP while in California. Kevin has also been honored by every branch of the military for his outstanding contribution to the military community and our country.
Born, raised and educated in Buffalo, Kevin's first professional job as a television weather reporter was at WBEN/WIVB TV in Buffalo in the 70's. In June of 1982, Kevin joined KNBC in Los Angeles where he was featured on three daily newscasts, hosted a weekly 90 minute 'live' show called The Sunday Show, as well as the NBC Network Game show 'Go'.
By 1985 Kevin's services were in high demand in one of the hottest media markets in the world, Los Angeles, California. Kevin hosted numerous TV specials, a weekly show called "Channel 2 Digest' and delivered his daily weather forecasts at 5, 6 and 11pm on KNBC. After joining KABC in 1989, Kevin often appeared on CBS Morning, CBS Morning News and the Morning Show on the CBS network.
After an incredibly successful career in California, Kevin came back to Buffalo in 1990 where he continues to be one of the most respected weathercasters and on-air personalities on television and through-out the community.
Kevin was the inaugural inductee into the Buffalo State Communication Hall of Fame in 1998, and has served on the Media / President's Advisory Board at Buffalo since 1997.
He has been recognized as an expert witness in numerous court cases involving weather related matters.
Kevin is currently the Chief Weather Anchor for the 5, 5:30, 6, 10 and 11 newscasts at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, NY. He will be available to answer additional questions, sign autographs and pose for pictures after his presentation.
