The Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NEC/AAAE) and the Buffalo Niagara International Airport are proud to present the 51st International Aviation Snow Symposium (I.A.S.S), April 22-26, 2017.

The world's largest event focused exclusively on airfield snow removal and winter operations, the I.A.S.S. will be held for the 32nd consecutive year in Buffalo, NY. The event will feature an impressive mix of exhibitors showcasing a wide variety of the latest snow removal equipment, services and solutions. The I.A.S.S. is recognized for its outstanding educational programs, excellent General Sessions, world-class speakers, entertaining and effective networking opportunities, as well as well-conceived partnership and sponsorship programs.

As it has for over 50 years, the symposium provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and lively discussions on equipment, snow removal techniques, the latest communications, safety, environmental and personnel trends in the industry, as well as the financial considerations of winter operations.

The International Aviation Snow Symposium was first held in April 1967 in Allentown, Penn., under the general chairmanship of founder and Chairman Col. Bernt Balchen USAF Ret. and Wilford (Wiley) M. Post, manager of Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport. In April of 2016 the 50th International Aviation Snow Symposium set attendance records for the event and was deemed an amazing success.

In 2017 the I.A.S.S. will be offering basic and advanced level classes in winter operations through the Snow Academy will be handing-out its fourth Operator of the Year award, and will once again sponsor the BALCHEN/POST Awards for excellence in the performance of airport snow and ice control during the winter of 2015-2016.

After an incredibly successful debut at the 50th I.A.S.S. the Snow Plow Rodeo will be held once again at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

"The Snow Plow Rodeo was an enormous amount of fun, a wonderful opportunity for networking and the perfect venue for some of the finest snow plow operators in the business to showcase their incredible skill behind the wheel," said Joe Guarino, Chairman of the I.A.S.S. "We're very pleased to present this exciting contest and delicious BBQ to our attendees at the 51st I.A.S.S."

The Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airports Executives (NEC/AAAE) International Aviation Snow Symposium (I.A.S.S.) Committee would like to thank you for attending and contributing to the 50th Anniversary of the annual Snow Symposium in Buffalo N.Y. on April 23, 2016 through April 27, 2016.

This symposium was the largest event in our 50 year history with nearly 900 in attendance. Our theme was Innovate. Celebrate. Educate. Our main focus has always been how to ensure even safer winter operations at our nation’s airports and across the globe. We challenge ourselves to be better than the last year by providing our attendees with excellent general session topics, great guest speakers and the sharing of best practices in the industry.

We had two specific objectives; to provide an assembly of individuals who are interested in improving winter operations at airports and to bring to this event the industry leaders and the most modern equipment available. We had over 75 exhibitors who helped achieve these goals.

It was our pleasure and honor to host the 50th I.A.S.S. Anniversary Celebration. We certainly hope that you enjoyed yourself and it was a valuable learning experience. Please respond with any thoughts you may have that could enhance our program. If your experience at the 50th was as we intended we hope that you will attend our 51st.

Sincerely,
Committee, International Aviation Snow Symposium

Flex-O-Lite, the aviation arm of Potters Industries, has a rich history of developing products and systems that put aviation safety first. They are the largest provider of Type III airfield glass beads and serve hundreds of airports around the world.
